Appointments

The appointment system is monitored constantly and we adjust it to respond to the needs of all of our patients. Changes will be announced in newsletters available on the website, in the health centre and in local chemists.

Available GP appointments are:

  • Emergency (urgent - on the day). Can be requested from 8am each working day until the triage list reaches capacity
  • Routine (in advance, within the upcoming week). Appointments are released at 3.30pm each working day until fully allocated
  • Extended Hours (pre-bookable routine appointments for before 8.30am or after 5.30pm on weekdays) Can be requested any time the practice is open

(The appointment system is structured to comply with the General Medical Services contract.)

All appointments are subject to availability.

Emergency On The Day Appointments

During an urgent appointment we must ask patients to limit themselves to the urgent problem and make a routine appointment for non-urgent problems. If you have a long list of concerns in any consultation the doctor may ask you to come back for a follow up appointment in order to deal with the less urgent problems. Therefore it is important that you ask the doctor to deal with the more urgent problems first. Please do not ask the doctor to print out repeat prescriptions during an appointment or deal with other patients during your consultation, as this would take time from other patients who are waiting.

Pharmacy First

Many community pharmacies across Scotland can directly treat patients for uncomplicated UTIs (urinary tract infections) or impetigo. This service allows patients to access advice and/or treatment for uncomplicated UTIs in women aged 16-65 and impetigo for any child over the age of 2 or any adult. The pharmacist will ask you about your symptoms in order to give you the right advice or treatment. There are some exclusions which can prevent the pharmacist from offering treatment in which case they will refer you to your GP. Local pharmacies that are taking part are: Boots Kilsyth, Charteris, Well pharmacy, Twechar pharmacy and Boots Craigmarloch.

Extended Hours Appointments

For patients in full time employment, we provide appointment times outside working hours.

Please note that we cannot guarantee a specific GP for these appointments. Requests for a male or female doctor will be upheld if possible.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else. Please phone our appointment cancellation line on 01698 687699 to leave a voicemail cancelling your appointment at ANY TIME - it is available 24/7.

Interpreter Services

Please let us know if you want an interpreter when making an appointment so that this can be arranged. More information regarding this service is available from the health centre including material to help us identify the language requirement.

Chaperone

Please let the clinician know if you would feel more comfortable with a chaperone present.

Students

Kilsyth Medical Partnership is an undergraduate teaching practice and occasionally has students. You will always be warned that a student will be present – please let the receptionist or doctor know if you want to see the doctor alone.
