Practice Clinics

The practice runs the following clinics:

Diabetic

Asthma

Chronic Disease Monitoring (e.g. high blood pressure, heart conditions)

Drug Monitoring Clinics for people with arthritis drugs and some other medications. (DMARD clinic)

Most clinics are run by nurses. You may get a letter inviting you to attend one or be referred by a doctor. If you need to be seen with any of these conditions the first thing to do is make a routine appointment with a doctor.

Contraception

Sisters Bell and McAteer can provide contraceptive advice. (The ‘morning after pill’ / emergency contraception is available from pharmacies).

Nurses Bell and McAteer fit contraceptive implants (Nexplanon). Please arrange an appointment with either nurse for more information if interested.

Family Planning Clinics are run at Central Health Centre –further information available from the Health Centre on request.

Smears

Appointments for smears can be booked with Sisters Bell and McAteer. As of 6th June 2016, the age range for cervical screening in Scotland has changed. Instead of between 20 and 60 years, women will be invited for a smear between the ages of 25 and 64 & 364 days. Women aged under 25 years who have already been screened will continue to be recalled and women aged over 60 who have previously been ineligible will now be invited. HRT Reviews

Annual HRT reviews can be carried out by Sisters Bell and McAteer.  

Other Services

The following clinics are run in the Health Centre.

  • Antenatal Clinics - run in the health centre by the community midwives. Appointments are made at the reception desk – first appointment at 6 – 8 weeks of pregnancy. You DO NOT need to see the doctor or practice nurse first
  • There is a Chiropody Clinic at the practice for patients with certain illnesses such as diabetes
  • Stocking and Leg Ulcer Clinic
  • Addiction Clinic
  • Counselling
  • Child Health Surveillance and Immunisation –appointments are sent out by the Health Board for these clinics. Please discuss with your health visitor.
  • Smoking Cessation - self- referral via local chemists
  • Dietician
  • Physiotherapy 

You must be referred by a doctor or nurse to most of these clinics unless indicated otherwise.

Kilsyth Victoria Cottage Hospital

If a patient is not ill enough to need urgent tests or intensive treatment, but cannot be managed at home, we can admit to the cottage hospital. The admitting doctor or the patient’s usual GP looks after him or her there.
